"I do not see any interest rate cuts this year," Federal
Reserve Committee member Michelle Bowman said in an interview in New York
today. Bowman said a rate cut was inappropriate at this time and that the
option of raising interest rates was more likely than lowering bank interest
rates.
Bowman's comments led the euro to fall sharply against the US dollar as
monetary policy in the eurozone slowed, while Bowman said monetary policy in
the United States could be tightened.
